Technical Director  1986 to present

·         21 week repertory seasons averaging 120 performances of 20 productions per season.

·         1 performance televised annually including 3 Emmy award winning broadcasts.

·         22 tours to Tokyo, Nagoya, Taiwan, and multiple venues within the United States.

·         Budget responsibilities include all aspects of production labor, staffing, construction, upkeep, rentals, shipping, and storage.  $7,000,000 annually.

·         Physical production planning and oversight includes: design, bidding, and construction for an average of 5 new shows annually plus rentals, co productions, tours, and rehabilitation of returning repertory.

·         Personnel supervision includes: production staff, stagehands, stage managers, designers, warehouse, and transport staff.

·         Labor relations and contract negotiations include: IATSE #1, USA #829, AGMA, Teamsters #817, and Warehousemen IATSE #59.

·         Representative Artists and Managers worked with: Beverly Sills, Gerard Mortier, Jürgen Höfer, Robert Wilson, Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, Francesca Zambello, Jonathan Miller, Harold Prince, Susan Strohman, Maurice Sendak, Franco Colavecchia, Frank Corsaro, Bartlett Sher, Christopher Alden, Paul Steinberg, Michael Yeargan, John Conklin, Desmond Heeley, Jennifer Tipton, Robert Wierzel, Ken Billington, John Gleason, Rhoda Levine, Steven Wadsworth, Thomas Lynch, Tazwell Thompson and Donald Eastman.

 

Special projects of note:

 

·         Primary consultant and Steering Committee member for $100 million renovation of the State Theater.

·         2 year oversight of Gerard Mortier’s unrealized multiple theater festival season, in conjunction with Opéra National de Paris, Teatro La Fenice, Ruhr Triennale, and Wattermill among others.

·         3 time Emmy Award (team) recipient, in conjunction with Live from Lincoln Center (on air commentator).

·         Design and development of the Production Manager’s Data base and multiple interactive budget planning tools.

·         Designed rain effect for 110 IN THE SHADE, reviewed as: “a biblical downpour”.

Lincoln Center Festival

 NYST Production Manager Working with Festival Production Manager Paul King, to produce:

 Julie Taymor and George Tsypin’s GRENDEL,

 Peter Greenaway and  Netherlands Opera’s WRITING TO VERMEER,

 Simon McBurney and Complicite Theatre w/ Setegai Public Theatre’s THE ELEPHANT VANISHES and A DISAPERAING NUMBER,

Yukio Ninagawa’s MUSASHI.

Also productions from Lyon Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, Hamburg Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, Nederland Dance Theatre,  La Scala Ballet, Shen Wei Dance Arts, Houston Grand Opera, plus several productions by Robert Wilson.

 

EINSTEIN ON THE BEACH

Recently consulted with the Park Avenue Armory and Pomegranate Arts, on a possible revival of the Robert Wilson and Philip Glass production.

 

THE LAST EMPRESS

      U.S. Production Manager for the tour from Seoul, South Korea. Stops included the State Theatre, N.Y.               (twice), and the Shubert Theatre, L.A.

       General Manager-Leonard Soloway, Chase Mishkin and Steven Levy, managed by Steven Levy.

 

HERO

U.S. Production Manager for the tour from Seoul, South Korea. Stops will include the David H. Koch Theater, N.Y. with plans being made for a return to N.Y. and on to L.A. next year.
