Dan Gabriello, baritone
Dan Gabriello made his international recital debut co-starring as equal principal soloist with the Italian world star tenor Alberto Cupido. He was a finalist in numerous international vocal competitions among the Grand Vocal Competition of Santa Margarita Ligure etc.
Never having sung the role of Scarpia in public, in April of 2000, with only three hours’ notice and no rehearsals, he made his debut as Baron Scarpia in a one nights performance of Giacomo Puccini's Tosca at Teatro Comunale di Caltanisetta situated on the Italian island Sicily.
Before making his stage debut as Scarpia with great success, he reached to sing nearly 500 performances in supporting roles in almost all of the Italian main repertory.
Due to his great success as Scarpia – he later came to sing numerous principal & title roles like Nabucco in Nabucco, Rigoletto in Rigoletto, Germont in La Traviata, Gérard in Andrea Chénier, Luna in Il Trovatore, Rodrigo in Don Carlos, Don Carlo di Vargas in La Forza del Destino, Tonio in I Pagliacci - and off course Scarpia again likewise with great success due to his fabulous voice and commanding stage presence and great acting.
Dan Gabriello is able to step in as Scarpia in Tosca & Carlo Gérard with few days or hours notice prior to the performance.
On the concert stage he performed together with great artists like Argentinean Soprano, Fabiana Bravo; Spanish tenor, German Villar; American Soprano, Kallen Esperian; Italian tenor, Marcello Bedoni and many others.
Mr. Gabriello took part in master classes with Galina Vichnevskaia, Franco Corelli, Haakan Haagegaard, and Sherril Milnes.
He serves as a VP of Dietsch International Associates.
He is slated to perform the role of Scarpia in American National Opera Company’s production of Tosca at The David H. Koch Theater and later on a major tour of the US and Canada.
Mr. Gabriello holds a BA degree in Theater Science from the University of Copenhagen. For the last 12 years he has also produced numerous opera gala concerts and fully staged productions with casts of international opera stars – and has as artistic director been responsible for the overall fundraising, financing, PR & marketing, casting & practical production.
Mr. Gabriello is also the author of a full professional film manuscript based on Umberto Giordano’s world famous Verismo opera Andrea Chénier.
Dan did his studies with the celebrated singer Maestro Paolo Silveri in Rome and at the Vocal Perfection studies at Teatro alla Scala. He then studied with the renowned voice teacher and international American Opera Star, baritone James Dietsch.
