James Dietsch is one of America’s leading dramatic artists.  He is renowned for his interpretations of the heroic Verdi baritone roles.  Having more than one hundred leading roles to his credit among which are his characterizations of such title roles as; Nabucco, Rigoletto, Boccanegra, Falstaff, Eugene Onegin, Don Giovanni, Gianni Schicchi, and Guglielmo Tell. 



Mr. Dietsch made his European debut in 1985, performing the role of Germont in La Traviata with the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, directed by Gian Carlo Del Monaco.  After this tremendous popular and critical success, he was equally well received in the title roles of Boccanegra, Eugene Onegin, Don Giovanni, Rigoletto, and other roles including Gianciotto in Francesca da Rimini.  During this time period he made many impressive debuts in various countries which included; Il Trovatore, in England, La Traviata, in Scottland, Francesca da Rimini, in France and Luxembourg, Nabucco in Canada, Guglielmo Tell in Italy, Il Trovatore in Mexico. 



In the United States Mr. Dietsch has appeared with the Washington Opera, New York City Opera, San Francisco Opera, Michigan Opera, Florentin Opera Milwaukee, Minnesota Opera, Dallas Opera, New Jersey State Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Hawaii Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Connecticut Grand Opera, Connecticut Opera, and many more.  He was a regular at summer festivals including; Sante Fe Opera, Lake George, Spoleto Festival USA, Artpark, Chautauqua, Hollybush, Waterloo, and Wolf Trap.  In Canada he has appeared as Nabucco with the L’Opera de Montreal which subsequently produced a movie version with the CBC.   He appeared with the opera companies of Edmunton, Winnepeg, and Regina.  In Great Brittan he appeared with Opera North and Scottish Royal Opera.  In Europe he made many appearances in numerous theaters which include; Staatsoper Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf, Oper Frankfurt, Teatro Bellini di Catana, Teatro La Fenice Venice, Teatro Comunale Firenze, Staatsoper Wien, and many more.



Recently Mr. Dietsch has returned to the operatic stage performing the role of Germont at the New Jersey State Opera and the role of Don Carlo in La Forza del Destino at the Knoxville Opera with resounding success.



Mr. Dietsch is an accomplished concert singer as well having done three major recital tours throughout the United States, Canada, and Central America. He has performed in Concert at such major theaters such as: Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, Avery Fischer Hall, Kennedy Center, Ambassador Hall in LA, and many others throughout the country.  He is equally known for his Spanish music interpretations having appeared many times in Central America in concert. 



During his career he has appeared often with such renowned orchestras as: The New York Philharmonic, National Symphony, Dallas Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, American ymphony, and many others.  During his accomplished career he has appeared with many leading artist of the century among whom are; Lucine Amara, Lando Bartolini, Carlo Bergonzi, Bianca Berini, Grace Bumbry, Franco Corelli, Jerome Hines, Christiaan Johansson, Teresa Kubiak, Ermano Mauro, James McCracken, Leoni Mitchell, Anna Moffo, Roberta Peters, Jan Peerce, George Shirley, Diana Soviero, Linda Roark-Strummer, Renata Tebaldi, Richard Tucker, Astrid Varnay, Mara Zampieri, and many others.

James Dietsch was born in Kansas City, Missouri where he received his BMA and MMA at the University of Missouri of Kansas City.  Mr. Dietsch made his operatic debut with the Kansas City Lyric Opera.  He studied conducting at the Wien Academy of Music and worked with Maestro Karl Böhm at the Staatsoper Wien.  In the late 70’s he studied at the famed Julliard School of Music and was a member of the American Opera Center.  He has conducted numerous orchestras and choruses.  Mr. Dietsch was a recipient of many awards and prizes which include the Metropolitan Opera National Auditions, Martha Baird Rockefeller Grants, NOI Grants, Sullivan Foundation, Liederkranz Foundation, National Arts Club, Opera Index, and various others.



Follow his impressive international career as a world star Verdian baritone, Mr. Dietsch has now chosen to partly continue his career as a highly skilled conductor conducting opera productions as well as symphonic works with leading opera companies all over USA and in Europe. He is also the CEO of Dietsch Artists International, Dietsch International Associates and The American National Opera.
