Dan Gabriello, Vice-President: DIA; Partner

 

 

Since 1990​ Mr. Gabriello has served as artistic director of several major opera events - from gala concerts to opera festivals and productions presenting upcoming young artists as well as established names in the opera world with great success.

Mr. Gabriello holds a B.A. degree in Humanities with specialization in Theater Science - especially the history of Italian opera from 1840 - 1952, Theater economy, production, PR and management from The University of Copenhagen, Denmark, his native city and country. As an opera singer he studied first with the late Danish bass Ulrik Cold, and continued his vocal studies at the Royal College of Music in London, followed by advanced vocal study with Italian baritone Paolo Silveri in Rome for the next four years. In 1989 he began a course of study at the Teatro alla Scala on the recommendation of Maestro Silveri.

 

While at La Scala, Mr. Gabriello met tenor Alberto Cupido, and as a result was invited to make his debut with Mr. Cupido in a concert at the Tivoli Garden's concert hall in Copenhagen. The concert was conducted by Martin Elmquist leading the Danish Broadcasting Orchestra.

 

Mr. Gabriello participated in master classes with Galina Vishnevskaya at the Lübeck Summer Music Festival, and then in 1993 won 4th Prize and the Audience Prize at the Santa Margarita Ligure Competition in Genoa. Among the jurists at the competition were Carlo Bergonzi and Gabriella Tucci.

 

By 1995 Mr. Gabriello was singing many supporting roles throughout Italy, and soon was covering principal roles for noted singers. In 2000, he stepped into the role of Scarpia at the Communale di Caltanisetta (Sicily) on 3 hours notice, receiving excellent reviews. ​After his success as Scarpia, Mr. Gabriello went on to perform many principal roles such as Nabucco and Rigoletto, singing alongside such sopranos as Fabiana Bravo and Kallen Esperian, among many others.

Mr. Gabriello is the author of a screenplay for a film production on based on Umberto Giordano's verismo opera Andrea Chénier
