Daniel Witzke, Executive Stage Director

German Stage Director Daniel Witzke works extensively in both Opera and Musical Theatre in Europe and the United States. As a Staff Director at the Wiener Staatsoper he was responsible for directing, reviving and assisting on more than twenty productions includingTristan und Isolde, Tosca, Turandot, Aida and Die Fledermaus. Career highlights include Hamburgische Staatsoper (La Forza del Destino), Spoleto Festival USA (Don Giovanni), and the Bregenzer Festspiele (Tosca).

He was responsible for the original German production of Elton John’s Musical Aida with Stage Entertainment Germany and was the Stage Manager for the original German productions of Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast and Jekyll & Hyde, among others. With Broadway Composer and Lyricist Maury Yeston he collaborated on the German premiere of Yeston's December Songs in 2005/06. He has been working closely with Jason Robert Brown, Bill Russell and other Broadway artists and producers on severalcross-Atlantic projects and is especially dedicated to nurturing new works and writers. Daniel Witzke joined Seattle Opera as Resident Assistant Director for their 2012-13 season. He is a member of AGMA (American Guild of Musical Artists).
